A sunset braai on the Atlantic Seaboard is one of the better things you can do with an evening — right up until you realise the only firewood in the flat is the half bag someone left over from December, and it has been quietly absorbing sea air ever since.
Living on this side of town comes with its own braai constraints: less storage, smaller braais, tighter parking and neighbours close enough to notice your smoke. All of which makes the quality of the wood matter more, not less.
Limpopo Hardwood delivers to Camps Bay, Sea Point, Green Point, Three Anchor Bay, Gardens, Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht and Vredehoek, straight from our depot to your door.
Delivery is priced by area (see every area and fee) and worked out at checkout, so there are no surprises when the bakkie arrives.
Most of our Atlantic Seaboard and City Bowl orders are 7 kg and 10 kg bags, and that is usually the right call:
Storage tip that saves a lot of disappointment: keep the bag off the floor and out of the sea air. A balcony box or the top of a cupboard is fine. Sea-facing flats are humid, and even good wood will take on moisture if you leave it open to the elements for weeks.
Short version: they all burn well, they just burn differently.
Getting it going is easier with kindling (8 kg for R45) and a box of
firelighters. If you would rather skip wood altogether for a quick weeknight braai,
there is Namibian charcoal at R50 for 5 kg.
Wet wood is the single most common reason a braai goes badly. Water in the wood has to boil off before the
wood can burn, so you get hissing, thick smoke, a fire that keeps dying, and a braai master who keeps
insisting it is “nearly ready”. It also coats your grid and your food in the sour, sooty smoke nobody wants.
Our wood is dried before it goes out, which is why it lights faster, burns cleaner and gives you more heat
per kilogram. That last part matters for your wallet too: a bag of properly dried hardwood does more work than
a heavier bag of damp wood at the same price.
Everything below is sold by weight, not by a vague “bag” that shrinks when nobody is looking.
