Blackthorn is dark and brown in colour and is a family hardwood of Kameeldoring. Its natural oil and resin provide a unique smoky flavour to any meat, poultry and fish. It is easy to light and provides long-lasting heat and coals.

In some areas of Africa, Swarthaak is considered an invasive species as it can expand into and cover large areas of farmland, the wood is sourced from sustainable managed forests.
